Prevention of rabies in patients severely exposed to rabid animal or in those expected to be infected w/ rabies by single or multiple transdermal bites or scratches.
Inj as soon as possible after exposure. As much as possible should be infiltrated into the depth & around the wound, although the wound is healed. The remainder of the calculated dose does not need to be injected IM at a distance from the wound. Adult & childn Max: 40 IU/kg.
History of allergic symptoms or hypersensitivity. Perform skin test prior to administration; skin test is under physician consideration. Observe patient at least 30 min after injection.
